The Anglophonizer
From 2020 to 2022, I had the privilege of working with Anglophone, a forward-thinking English language training institution based in Southern Spain.
Anglophone recognized a significant gap in the market – a lack of high-quality teaching materials tailored specifically for young and teenage learners of English as a second language. Driven by a mission to revolutionize this sector, they embarked on an ambitious endeavor to create a comprehensive and innovative learning ecosystem.
When I joined the team in 2020, Anglophone had already developed a solid foundation of materials for learners aged 3 to 12, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for language levels up to A2.
My initial contribution was to create audio resources to complement and enrich the existing content. However, my primary focus soon shifted to collaborating with Anglophone's managerial team to define a new curriculum and script engaging content for the pre-teen and teenage learner segment, targeting the B1 CEFR level. This involved a meticulous process of curriculum design, content development, and teacher training.
The published textbook, while a tangible artifact, is merely one component of a holistic educational methodology. It serves as a support tool, seamlessly integrating with the institution's branding, presence, and overall learning experience. The true essence of our work lies in the meticulously designed lesson plans and the structured learning environment we created – the 'back-end' of educational design, complementing the textbook's 'front-end' design.
Through this comprehensive approach, we aimed to provide not just a textbook but a transformative educational experience that empowers young learners to master English language skills effectively and enjoyably.
